First Public Showing Of "Lost Treasure Trail"

Hi To one and all, cast and crew of Lost Treasure Trail, and friends including former casts of the other movies and interested parties,

Whew! that is a mouthful! On Friday, July 25th at 7:00 We will hold the first public showing of Lost Treasure Trail in the General Welch Theater at the Liberal Air Museum in Liberal, Kansas. For more on the film please visit www.nightwalkerfilms.net. Cast and crew please let me know if you can or can't be there so I can get you your DVDs. Please plan to stay a little while after to sign for the fans and friends.

As in the past we filmed the movie in Western Kansas in Ulysses, Hugoton, near Elkhart on the Santa Fe Trail and north of Hugoton and south of Ulysses. All cast and crew came from SW. Kansas and Guymon and were volunteers. Many of those have been involved before in local movies, or plays. Please come out and support the movie and local movie making in SW. Kansas. Without you it would not be possible for me to make movies in our area.

Thank You to all my cast and crew and to those of you whom I had the privilege of working with on Dusk and Fields with Joel Trujillo AKA Chris. Thanks for the wonderful memories and your kindness. I'd love to work with you again.

We will have advertising coming out previous to the showing and I believe some newspaper stories before the showing in Liberal, Ulysses, and Hugoton. Everyone is invited!

Each member of the Cast and crew will get in free, but extra family members and friends will have to pay. I'm not sure of the cost of tickets yet, but I'm going to keep them low as I can get. Some of this will go to the air museum! I'll also be handing out DVDs for the cast and crew after the movie runs and selling copies of the DVDs to those who want them for $10.00 a piece. I also have cover sheets available for the cast and crew to sign they can have for free to give to those who attend.

I'm still trying to set up a second showing in Ulysses for the movie where much of it was filmed. I attended the last meeting of the board for the Ulysses community Theater group, but only the president and one member showed up for the election of a new board member. It was my intention to make a presentation to the group on how they could use the money from tickets sold to help the local group. I'll continue on that and may approach the Hugoton and Elkhart groups to see if they would like to host a showing and keep the ticket money in return. All I want is a chance to sell some DVDs of the movie and a chance to promote future film projects with those who attend. More on all that if and when it develops.

Night Walker films is considering doing a new production in the Spring of 2009. I have been doing research and finding locations and props for a possible western movie. I have a couple of script ideas I'm exploring, however, the current gas price explosion and the effect on the economy may make it very difficult for people to pay their own expenses to get to the locations for filming. Since movie making on the local level is not a money maker as a director we have so many other costs involved in making a film we can't afford to pay cast and crew. At least not so far. If you would please let me know if you would be interested in being in a movie next spring for Night Walker films or working on the crew please let me know. Without your support or others I can't continue. The need to film in a couple of western towns will add cost and travel to say Dodge City, Palo Duro Canyon, Texas, or possible Buckskin Joe near Royal Gorge for a day or two of filming. Let me know your thoughts.

I am not locked into a western at this point and could make several other kinds of films easier at less expense. I would like your opinion and if you would be interested in working with me on another film.

Thank you for reading this and your support.

Sincerely,
Randy Greenwood

Lost Treasure Trail DVD's

Thought it was time to bring you up to date. The path to getting the DVD's made has had a few problems along the way that one by one, I've over-come. You already know the story on editing the film, so I'll not go over all that. To begin with the movie is 1 hour 57 minutes long. Too large for a regular DVD. So I thought, no problem I'll have the duplicators reproduce the movie on double layer discs. We have our master on that and it works fine in DVD players. Guess what? Their equipment won't burn on a double layer DVD and what's more they don't have a supplier for them! The only other thing we could do was go back in and split the movie into two parts and use a double disc case which made the cost beyond what I thought people would pay to see it and it would have cost a bunch more in editing costs.

The next thing we decided to do was have Evan (my son) use a compression program and by compressing the movie 63% we were able to get the movie on a single regular DVD disc they could process on their equipment. The movie looks good compressed but there is a little pixilation around the opening title credits. Because it is raining in the opening it doesn't look bad, almost like we planned it that way, So, after about three weeks we had a couple of double layer disc copies we can play and project without any pixilation, and a disc that they could master the DVD's from. I ordered the DVD's and they insisted that we use their forms for the cover art. In light silver there was printed Front cover on the front side of the art and and back cover in silver on the back side of the art. We used that form like they said we had too and layered our cover over it so it could have the silver words front and back cover removed for printing.

Guess what! Yeah, you guessed it! They printed and made the DVD's and left the silver print front and back on over the artwork! For the last week I have been discussing and cussing with the duplicators and finally they have agreed to reprint the cover art and send me the cut sheets ready to replace the cover art we now have so the back and front cover won't be printed in silver over the artwork. That little error on their part is going to cost me at least another $60.00 plus shipping and handling cost and I'll have to change each DVD's cover out myself. The good news is that I'm fixing it, and I'll have a hundred extra cover sheets with the silver front and back cover lettering for you guys to use to sign autographs. It looks like I should have the new covers in about a week to 10 days. I will then mail out the free DVD's to the people who let us use their music in the picture and to the one is Colorado who let us film at their place since it is unlikely they can come from so far away to come to our movie Premiere.

I haven't heard anything from the Ulysses theater group on when or if they want to host it. They have been busy with rehearsals for a play and since I didn't have the DVD's ready I haven't pressed them about hosting our movie Premiere. I have written Janet and Dean Newman an E-mail today laying out the proposal to see if that group wants to sponsor it. If they don't I'll try the Hugoton group, the Ulysses movie theater, or the Liberal or Guymon theater to see if they would want to sponsor it and show it.

I told them they could charge for the tickets and keep the money, but each cast member and crew member would get one free pass and the rest of the family and friends would have to pay to get in. I think the Ramski families were all in the cast and crew. That includes my own friends and family would have to pay. All I want is a chance to sell the extra DVD's to the crowd that would like a copy and extras to cast and crew that wants them for family and friends. I intend to hand out your free DVD's out at the end of the premiere. Cast members and some crew will be announced to come forward for recognition at the premiere and I hope the cast would stay a little while after to sign autographs and visit with cast members after. Who ever hosts the premiere would be responsible for any cost of rental and advertising and promotion. They get to keep the ticket money and any concession stand money they get from it. I keep the DVD sales to help pay for making them.

As soon as I can get it set up, I'll let you know when the premiere is going to be. It would be a miracle if everyone could be there that night for cast and crew, but if you can't make the date then I'll see you'll get your copy.

Best wishes,
Randy Greenwood

Possible Western Movie Project Spring 2009

I have been doing some scouting for buildings and locations I can use to film a western possibly in the spring of 2009. There are some really nice interiors and buildings and exterior shots scattered around SW Kansas. There is an old church and general store from the outside we could film around in Richfield. In Hugoton we have a regular house interior and exterior from the 1880's, a jail complete with cells, a church inside and out from the period, a railroad depot, and a school house furnished. Elkhart and Johnson also have some buildings at their museums. At Ulysses they have a house interior of the old west time period inside the museum, the old hotel refurnished inside and out, and another school house.  I need an old style ranch house somewhere. At Perryton, Texas South of Liberal their museum have several old building set up together that could be used to film a western town also. There is more SW. Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle museums and building that might be used for a western that could be filmed around this area. Several people that we have worked with in films around here could fit in many of the roles for a western.

In early spring 2007 I talked to some Guymon people who said they could provide a covered wagon, a stage coach, and a chuck wagon with drivers and teams to pull them. Also another man in Guymon is a member of a gunfighter’s organization and could help us stage gunfights and some people to try out or be stunt men or posse or bad guys that can ride and have horses for a western. They have their own horses, guns, and costumes, tack, ect.

I have also talked a little with Dale Beltz about possibly doing some filming out in the western part of the Oklahoma Panhandle around Black Mesa. He is looking into it last I heard.

I have also heard from a bit character actor who owns land and has friends with longhorns and cattle, and horses who has approached me about possibly filming East of Colorado Springs about 30 miles. He is researching where we could film and where there would be buildings or towns we would need in Colorado we could film the movie if we cast most of it out there.

That is a possibility, but for now I'm planning on this area providing I can get local cooperation and people willing to be cast and crew members. For towns locations I am thinking about approaching Front Street at Boot Hill and use some of their buildings and even Saloon girls or gunfighters to film in the off season. Don't know how accommodating they would be or if they would flat say no way or if I can raise some money to pay them! I'm looking into other town sites for filming.

I've been watching a ton of western movies and doing historical research and a have a couple of ideas for a possible script, but have not started writing one yet. I want to try to make as good a movie as possible. a lot depends on the support and volunteers I get to help me do the film.

I'd also like to get a feel for local interest in filming around here. Let me know if you would be interested in being in cast or crew, or know of some locations in this area where I could do some of the filming. If we could get some permission to film at old Fort Larned it would be terrific for a scene or two on a weekend. If you have never visited Fort Larned park it is like the soldiers got up this morning and rode out leaving all their possessions and equipment at the fort. Even the officer’s houses are totally furnished as well as the blacksmith shop, and the general supply store and all barracks.

I doubt I'll make a movie that requires very many Indians as we don't have any tribes living close and I don't know where I would get them. also if anyone knows how to get a hold of the guy that lives near Sublette that talks to school kids and is outfitted as an Indian complete with Tepee I'd like to talk to him about his interest in helping with the movie and playing a role. Also highly unlikely is U.S. Cavalry as the cost of uniforms and equipment would be too high. I do know they do have some re-enactors occasionally at Fort Larned and we might be able to work around that if they would agree to let us. You don't know unless you try.

Please let me know if you are interested or have some helpful ideas.

Goodbye for now.

Editing Is Completed On "LOST TREASURE TRAIL"

Lost Treasure Trails has finally completed editing on December 18, 2007. We are in the process of setting up a cast and crew party for a private viewing of the film in early January so the cast and crew can see it before the general public does. The DVD's will be ordered then as we are beginning the planning on a local first showing of the film that probably will be held in March or April in Ulysses, Kansas. More will be released when a date is set. The DVD's will not be for sale until the night of the first public showing.

I just want to say I talked to several people from the time we stopped filming until now until I finally found the right man to do the editing and once he agreed to do the job he completed editing in what has to be a record time of just eight days. It was a very long time since we stopped filming in June until now to see the film edited.

We also now have a film trailer and a movie poster that will be added very soon. I used one other editor that did about half the film, which was done over by the final editor and talked to three other people before it was finally completed. In his modest way, he prefers I not put his name on the website for now, but I am very grateful to him for his work. I'm anxious for the time when you will all be able to see our movie.

Now that editing is closed I am considering my next project. I'm thinking about doing a western short of maybe five to ten minute film, and possibly a western movie after that. Filming would be in the Spring of 2008 for at least the short film. If you would be interested as an actor or crew member contact me at ksu72@yahoo.com and for the subject line just add Western. Just leave your personal information and how I might contact you.

Best wishes,
Randy Greenwood

Lost Treasure Trail Update

Well, friends, I think we have all the main filming done with the good weather this weekend. Just in time too, as my microphone keeps breaking wires. We got what we needed though despite a delay or two. The weather was good enough to get it wrapped. I don't think we will need to redo anything and hopefully we won't need any voice over work from you. If I or Charlie decide we need to fix something that requires you or I do need anyone I will contact you personally. Dale Beltz (Jasper) and I got the film ride on his horse for the credits at the start of the film done on Tuesday while we had a good overcast. We got some sprinkles at times, but I think we got some good stuff for the start of the movie. We won't need the soundtrack as we will use music for the credits. We did the filming around Point Of Rocks, and along the Cimarron River. Charlie ought to be able to put in a lightening strike for us .I think the only thing left un-filmed is a close up of ants on Charlie and if we think we need it, a bit of Charlie from Scene 19 with the car broke down and walking the roads.

I want to thank all of you for your patience and seeing the filming all the way through. I know by this time of the year is getting pretty hot outside to work, and some of you were working when you really didn't feel well. I also know many of us were starting to get tired of giving up weekends and getting burned out. Thank for your fine efforts and for being professional. I appreciate your sacrifice.

For those who anxiously want to see a trailer, I hope to wait until Charlie can get a few more key scenes edited before making one as they will be important. Charlie is very busy, so I don't want to push that before we are ready to do it right. As long as we have one in time well before the premieres. I'll be starting on the credits soon. I'm continuing to work on finding music for the film's soundtrack while Assistant director and film editor Charlie Frisby works on editing our film scenes. I don't have a set date for completion as Charlie is very busy with his real jobs. I'm just lucky to have a man of his talent helping me. My hope is we will finish sometime in August and have the world premiere sometime in September. More as we get closer.

I have thought about doing a short three to fifteen minute film with a western theme in the fall. I have an idea to work on, but we'll see. I may take a break and write scripts this fall and winter instead. I do intend to film some kind of movie next spring, but nothing has been decided on for a theme for it or a script even written yet. I will promise it won't be another zombie film, or a sequel to Lost Treasure Trail!

I will see you at the cast party and I will let you know as the film gets closer to completion. We will also see you at the premiere or premieres. I will be doing these professionally again as I did for Fields of the Living Dead. Those will be handed out at the premiere. Hey, stay in contact and give me news on what you are doing and hopefully I will work with you again on another film.

Good luck to Ron Garverick who will soon depart for Tennessee to record and later to try-out for a film in North Carolina. I expect to hear big things about the Ramski girls within the near future too. Best of Luck to all of you. Thank you for being my friends and sharing your talents and valuable time with me and the cast and crew. Thanks for being so kind. May God bless and protect you all.

Special Showing Of "Fields Of The Living Dead"

At the old Shoppe (The Soda Fountain Shop in Johnson, KS)  They are having a showing of the movie at 7:30 PM Saturday nite, April 14. All cast, crew, and zombies are invited to meet your adoring public and sign autographs. The tickets I believe are $2.00 each and go to support run for life for the Heart Association. The Store where they are having the show has a really cool, old fashion soda shop worth the trip just to see it and get an old fashion syrup coke or milkshake. Also the place we filmed in the movie! Hope to see some of you there. I know Joel Trujillo can't make it, but sends his best wishes. I'll have copies of Fields there for sale. Thanks, Randy

Lost Treasure Trail Cast Members Announced

We had a first meeting of the new cast members of Lost Treasure Trail on March 11, 2007 at Greenwood Photography in Hugoton, Ks. There we went over getting permission slips signed, costumes for each character, filming dates, and what is expected of cast members. We all had Pizza and soft drinks before filming the opening scene of the movie with Ron Garverick and Melissa Ramski at Ken and Midge Greenwood's home here in Hugoton. In that first scene Britt Stanton is fighting with his girl friend, Karis McConnell about going on a treasure hunting expedition instead of a trip to Jamica with her!

Film crew for the day included Heather Oliver on script, Evan Greenwood on Sound, Neil Oliver on lighting, Charlie Frisby on Camera #2 and Director Randy Greenwood on Camera #1. Filming will resume on Sunday March 25 at the discovery campsite near the Cimarron River bridge on river road. Cast and crew you have directions. If the weather is bad or we have high winds we will instead film our secondary scenes indoors in Ulysses.

We will be filming at the Peddler's Inn in Ulysses for scenes in the restaurant and the motel room. I'm not sure of the order, as close to 1:00 the restaurant may still be too busy so we might start with the room shots or the library if we can get in there. The Library we will use The The Grant County Library if we don't do it early or we go too late.

Peddler's Inn is on the road toward Johnson and still in the Ulysses city limits. Library is East of Main Street, near the courthouse. If you uncertain about conditions call me. I enjoyed my daughter's wedding, but I'm glad it is over so I can concentrate on Lost Treasure Trail. I found what I needed for the gold and gold ore for the treasure. I can't wait to resume filming with you this weekend!

The Adventure is about to begin!
Lost Treasure Trails is casting Soon!!!!

I'm preparing to start casting calls. We will have them at Elkhart,KS Panhandle State, Liberal, KS at Seward County Juco, Hugoton,KS and hopefully Ulysses, KS. As soon as the days, times and locations are set, I'll have Paul Salley add them to the website. Below you will find downloadable character list and descriptions of characters for my up-coming movie. Also there is a synopsis of the film. There are downloadable passages from the script for each character that I will use for Casting or try-outs.

We will video your try-outs so I can go back and review while casting the parts. The good news is you will have a chance to practice or prepare for your part and find out something about the characters so you know which ones you might be interested in before you get there. You can try-out for more than one role if you like.

Many of you know I have worked as a co-director with Joel Trujillo on the first two movies. This is my 3rd script, but the first one on my own. I am a published author of three paperback novels from 1995-1996. I also published over 20 magazine articles for pay.

This Movie I'm directing and filming on my own. My son Evan will help behind the scenes and also with editing. Joel is burned out and wants to take a break and I want to see what I can do! For you that are unaware, I used to video weddings in the 80's and early 90's as part of my photography studio. In 1997, 1998, and 1999 I video taped all the Hugoton wrestlers for the season and made a season ending 2 hr. highlight tape with titles using the schools video toaster machine for editing and special effects for the kids. I have been a professional still photographer for over 30 years. On the acting side I was in many 4-H one act plays, junior and senior year plays at High School and an active member of the original Stevens county community theater group from 1980-1985.

I have loved writing and movies my whole life. I also believe a lot can be learned by reading. I've read two books on directing and three on script writing, and also $30.00 Film School that covers all aspects of Independent film making. It doesn't make me an expert, but I want to do a great job and work with people that want to make a good movie. I welcome your help. We will have a boom sound system for this movie. I have in already and a much improved Video camera. This film is in color and set in 2007.Please call and let me know if you intend to tryout or send me an e-mail. Thanks!

Get The Word Out!

Director Randy Greenwood met with the Ulysses, Kansas Theater board on Monday, February 5th to discuss the new film and also made arrangements to appear on KULY Guymon Radio on the 23rd of February at 10:30 to talk about the new film Lost Treasure Trail, which will start production very soon. Greenwood said he would start setting up casting call tryout locations, places, town, and times in the very near future.

New Film To Be Produced

This is an open letter from Randy Greenwood to those who have been either cast members or zombies in the last two movies I have made with JFT Productions and Joel Trujillo aka Chris Garrison, or those considering trying out for parts or helping with the crew.

I am currently writing a new script for a full length movie called Lost Treasure Trail that I hope to start filming in March, April, and early May 2007. Once again this is going to be a micro budget or no budget film and I will ask cast and crew to donate their talents and time to this movie. Without your help it won't be filmed. This is the third script I have written, and the first on my own. Casting calls will be in late February or very early March. continue

Night Walker Online

I wanted to let you all know that a new website is under construction for Night Walker films by Paul Salley of the www.reeldiaries.com site. My new site like JFT Productions owned by Joel Trujillo will stand alone, but share info on the movies Dusk of the Living Dead and Fields Of The Living Dead since they were joint projects. By the way the editing on Fields is going great according to Joel. I'm as anxious as you all are to see some of it. I understand he has about 2/3rds of the scenes edited, but still will have to work on sound, special effects and other things after the film scenes are cut and edited. Joel is really good at editing and I can't wait to see his magic! continue

For more on the film please visit www.nightwalkerfilms.net .
